Applications Open for the 2021-2022 Mayor’s Youth Advisory Board, Deadline May 21

Beaverton area high school students are invited to apply to the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Board (MYAB) for the next school year.

MYAB’s goal is to serve the common good of the community and provide a voice for youth while organizing constructive community projects, strengthening relationships among all members of the community, promoting youth activism in governmental affairs, and acting as a resource for any city organization upon request.

“This advisory board is an awesome chance to get involved and effect real change,” said Mayor Beaty. “There’s no GPA requirement, and it looks great on college applications and resumes. I want this group to be representative of our diverse city. If you’re part of a group that’s been traditionally
underrepresented, I hope you will apply!”

Applications will be open through Friday, May 21. Selected candidates will be notified by June 18. The student group typically meets once per month throughout the school year, and reports to the Mayor and City Council on issues of concern to youth.

MYAB was established in 2000 to provide a voice for youth in our community. This ad–hoc committee consists of 20 members from Beaverton area high schools.
