The City of Beaverton is now accepting applications for two arts grant programs—the Community Grant Program and Diverse Art Offerings Grant are available to artists and arts organizations who serve the Beaverton community.
Community Grant Program: Now in its sixth year, these grants provide financial support for nonprofit visual, written, individual artists, and performing arts organizations who serve Beaverton residents. All funded activities must occur between Jul. 1, 2018 and Jun. 30, 2019.
Who: Individual artists, arts and cultural groups, and Beaverton schools. Social service agencies, religious organizations and private businesses are also eligible if they pair with a nonprofit arts or diverse cultural organization for a joint project.
What: Applications to this grant program should address one or more of these five goals:
- Bring people together by providing opportunities for all people to experience and explore art.
- Create ways for people to celebrate cultural diversity through art.
- Help local artists to have a voice and to thrive artistically.
- Spur the development and stewardship of art.
- Educate the community on the intrinsic and economic value of art.
Amount: Two levels of funding are available: $1,000 and $2,000. (See application for eligibility details.) Applicants who receive a Beaverton diverse art offerings grant in this cycle will not be eligible for the community grant.
Applications Due: Friday, Mar. 16, 2018, 11:59 p.m.
Applicants Notified: Friday, May 18, 2018.
Diverse Art Offerings Grant: This grant program supports unexpected art opportunities or events that may arise. Projects could include workshops, art classes or art activities that serve Beaverton residents. This program is intended to support rare or unexpected opportunities, especially for emerging artists, students, or organizations new to the grant-making process. All funded activities must take place by Dec. 31, 2018.
Who: Students, individual artists, and arts and culture organizations who serve the Beaverton community. Beaverton schools and libraries are also eligible to apply.
What: This grant program is intended to provide support outside of the annual Beaverton community grant cycle for unanticipated events or opportunities.
Amount: Up to $500 per applicant. Only one request per individual or organization will be funded each calendar year. Applicants who receive a Beaverton community grant in this cycle will not be eligible for the diverse art offerings grant.
Applications Due: Accepted now through December 31, or until all grant funds are expended.
Applicants Notified: Depends on application date.
