Starting next Wed Oct 21st, AgeCelebration is hosting a 10-week “Be Anti-Racist” reflection gathering based on Ibram X. Kendi’s new “Be Anti-Racist: A Journal for Awareness, Reflection, and Action”. The gathering will take place via zoom each Wed from 11am-12noon through end of December.
This weekly gathering is NOT a discussion group. It is simply a safe space to process out loud some of the things that will come up for us internally on our personal journeys as we move through Professor Kendi’s book to journal, reflect, and take action. The gatherings will provide a privileged confidential environment and will apply a “reflective listening” model so that we may serve as reflective sounding boards for each other’s processes, not a discussion of each other’s individual journeys. Everyone is invited and everyone is welcome! but you will need to have a copy of the journal and be interested in diving deeply and personally into its contents.
This work is painful, uncomfortable, and infinitely meaningful and necessary, unearthing long-held, often unconscious socially-conditioned belief systems and practices. Everyone’s journey to being anti-racist will be different; some will not need a weekly community group as part of their process, but for those of you who find committing to a scheduled time to process your journey out loud in a safe reflective environment, I offer this free community opportunity to us all. Email me to sign up and get the zoom link. Get your copy of Dr. Kendi’s journaling book ordered and join us.
