ISing Choir and the Westside Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Stephen Galván, present Where Angels Tread, featuring Vivaldi’s Gloria and Argento’s The Masque of Angels Suite. The concert will begin with Arvo Pärt’s powerful and ethereal setting of “Da pacem Domine” (Give peace, O Lord), enveloping the audience in sound. Then the choir will strike a lighter note with Vivaldi’s popular “Gloria”, followed by the poignant “Prayer to a Guardian Angel” by Patrick Hawes. The second half of the program resumes with a choir favorite, Pacific Northwest native Morten Lauridsen’s “O Magnum Mysterium”. Following that, “The Masque of Angels Suite” by Dominick Argento, a petite opera about a band of restless angels assisting two lovers with the complications of human love and marriage, presents a nice contrast to Lauridsen’s moving rendition of the Christmas mystery. The concert will conclude with John Rutter’s “Angel’s Carol.”
