Call for Art: “The Love Politik: One World, Indivisible” Deadline: Aug. 31

“The Love Politik: One World, Indivisible” Blackfish Gallery, Portland, OR. October 2020
DEADLINE  August 31, 2020

NO SUBMISSION FEE

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION: THE LOVE POLITIK: ONE WORLD, INDIVISIBLE is a thematic group exhibition of visual works, political in nature, born of concern over current philosophical and political divisions which can leave us feeling hopeless, powerless, and alone. The exhibition takes its inspiration from such figures as Gandhi, Dr. King, Coretta Scott King, Nelson Mandela, César Chávez, Delores Huerta, Mr. Rogers, Greta Thunberg, Jane Goodall, Mother Teresa, and many others. Blackfish organizers encourage invoking these and others from throughout history, and from all corners of the globe, in a call to loving arms on behalf of an urgently felt need to present works that celebrate all love — for humanity, for the planet.  The exhibit will be presented in the gallery as well as online. [Concurrent with the visual art show is a month-long performance festival entitled “Be About Love.”]

EXHIBITION DETAILS:  Accepted artworks will be featured in a group exhibition at Blackfish Gallery, and on the gallery website as part of a virtual tour, from September 29 – October 31, 2020; they will be viewable in the website exhibition archives thereafter.

EXHIBITION TERMS: Works in the exhibition will be for sale, with standard gallery 50/50 splits. Sale price is determined by the artist. Artist email contact & website information, artist statement, and exhibition history will be viewable at the gallery.

ELIGIBILITY AND RESTRICTIONS: The competition is open to all artists, working in any 2D media, living within or near the greater Portland (OR) Metro Area, since accepted works must be personally delivered — no shipping.  Painting, drawing, photography, graphics, digital, and mixed media works are eligible. Works may not be larger than 48” x 48”.

NO ENTRY FEE: Because this is a difficult time for many artists, we decided not to charge a submission fee.

Please visit the Blackfish Gallery website for full submission details.
