Call to Artists: Hillsboro Cultural Arts is Seeking New Artists for 2021-2022 Shirley Huffman Auditorium Gallery
The Cultural Arts division of the Hillsboro Parks & Recreation Department is seeking artists and visual art groups to submit proposals for its 2021-2022 gallery season. Starting on April 1, submission proposals to exhibit original fine art at the Hillsboro Civic Center’s Shirley Huffman Auditorium Gallery will be considered from artists of all ages and abilities who live in Hillsboro and its surrounding communities. Artists may apply as an individual or within a designated group or artistic organization (such as a guild) for a two month exhibition.
The Civic Center, located in Downtown Hillsboro, is a mixed-use building featuring rotating exhibitions from an array of emerging and established creatives. These exhibitions are a vibrant representation of the City of Hillsboro’s commitment to culture and the arts, providing a community showplace for diverse, innovative, and exceptional cultural opportunities that enrich the lives of our citizens. Hosting many talented artists each year, the Cultural Arts Program seeks artwork from diverse voices that is engaging to broad public audiences of all ages.
The exhibition space includes approximately 60 linear feet of wall space on the interior and exterior walls of the City Council chambers, as well as a limited area for small, select 3D works in the lobby. All works must be original and completed within the last five years. Artworks previously exhibited at any City facilities within the last three (3) years are not eligible.
