Call to Artists: Public Art Purchase Opportunity, Deadline March 31

For artists from Oregon and Washington

Add to the vitality of Portland’s Public Art Collection by submitting portable scale two dimensional works for purchase by the Regional Arts & Culture Council. Types of artwork that qualify for this opportunity include prints, paintings, photographs, drawings, textiles, collage, bas-relief, mosaic, glass, ceramic, and metal.

Artworks will be displayed initially in publicly accessible spaces in City of Portland offices on the 7th floor of the new Vanport Building, located on the PSU Campus at Southwest Fourth Avenue & Montgomery Street. Special consideration will be given to artwork that relates to key concepts that guided the buildings development: EcologyWellness, and Connectivity.

A panel of artists, curators, community and City representatives will select the artwork for purchase. Selected works will strongly meet the criteria based on panel rankings, available budget, and a commitment by City of Portland and RACC to expand the range of artistic and cultural expression represented in the Public Art Collection. This opportunity also prioritizes Black artists, Indigenous artists, and artists of color to acknowledge the disproportionate impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on BIPOC communities.

Funding comes from the City of Portland’s Percent for Art Program and is approximately $65,000.

Submissions Due: Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at 5 p.m. PST. Find the submission information HERE.
