As part of the First Tuesday Art Walk on January 7, from 5-8 p.m., the Walters Cultural Arts Center (527 E. Main St., Hillsboro) invites the community to experience artwork by former Hillsboro High School students who graduated between 1971 and 2001, as part of the continuing exhibition, Homecoming. The featured graduates have gone on to diverse and exciting creative careers in animation, jewelry design, illustration, architecture, and more. The evening will include a demonstration by featured artist and video game designer Henning Koczy beginning at 5:30 p.m. Guitarist Elizabeth Hartman will perform in the lobby from 5 – 6:30 pm. Light refreshments provided with thanks to our supporting sponsor, Decadent Creations.
Homecoming exhibits each artists’ strength in creative expression, their progress, and achievements in the art world, and their solid foundation which began with the encouragement of Judy Vogland at Hillsboro High School all of those years ago. Vogland said, “I found that stimulus, opportunity, encouragement, and support resulted in quality outcomes.”
First Tuesday Art Walk is free, open to the public, and takes place on the first Tuesday of every month throughout Downtown Hillsboro from 5 – 8 p.m. Exhibitions at the Walters Cultural Arts Center are open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m., and Friday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. The Walters is located at 527 E.
