Are you an artist or cultural advocate residing in Washington County, OR?
Do you have a passion for creative projects that incorporate social activism?
Want to take your practice to the next level?
Apply to join our 2021 Arts and Culture Leadership Incubator!
A 2018 study revealed that people in Washington County, OR have fewer opportunities to access arts and culture services and experiences than in other urban areas around the state. TVC created the Arts and Culture Leadership Incubator program to challenge, empower and inspire emerging and diverse arts and culture leaders.
Part-leadership development, part-business incubator, the Arts and Culture Leadership Incubator supports local artists and cultural advocates in building a thriving, inclusive cultural and creative environment for our community.
A team of Faculty members provides their expertise as creative industry professionals through one-on-one mentorship, guiding participants as both creatives and community activists. Small, intensive skill-building workshops, led by Faculty and guest speakers, cover topics ranging from the business aspects of being an artist to challenging methodologies around what it takes to be a community leader. Participants create lasting connections during the program through peer networking, mentorship, and learning.
The program culminates in a Digital Showcase for the community, highlighting the participant’s projects, collaborations and learnings.
Up to ten applicants from traditionally underrepresented populations* will be selected to participate in the second annual cohort. The Incubator is free to participants, and those who complete the program have an opportunity to earn a $500 stipend to help advance their work. The 2021 workshops will take place February 6, February 20, March 6, March 20, April 3, and April 10.
*Traditionally under-served populations in Washington County include people under 40, people of color, LGBTQ+, people experiencing income disparity, and people with disabilities, among others.
