Salary: $56,826.00 – $74,779.00 Annually

The primary focus of the special events coordinator is to design and deliver community events for the City of Hillsboro Parks & Recreation. This individual will work both independently as well as with a team to carry out diverse and inclusive event strategies and to facilitate and develop community relationships.
The ideal candidate will be highly organized, have excellent project management skills, be a creative thinker and be detail oriented. In addition, this role requires the ability to prioritize tasks and work on a variety of projects with competing deadlines, all while remaining adaptable to new situations, ideas, and challenges. We are looking for someone who is passionate about the field yet has innovative ideas and the desire to think outside the box.
General Statement of Duties
The principal function of an employee in this class is to coordinate activities in support of Park venue operations including but not limited to event services, sales, and marketing, and operations. Responsibilities as assigned may include providing customer service; processing registrations and/or reservations; maintaining records; assisting in the planning, organization and implementation of programs; enforcing policies and procedures; and monitoring and maintaining program equipment, supplies and materials. Incumbents provide recommendations for hiring, discipline, and termination procedures for part-time and seasonal staff.

- Assist Special Events Supervisor on part of or all special events.
- Assist with the coordination of vendor agreements and contracts.
- Assists with creative marketing strategies to promote events.
- Researches, plans, implements, and evaluates new events and programs to meet the needs of Hillsboro’s demographics.

Acceptable Experience and Training
Associates degree in Business Administration, Recreation Administration or a closely related field and 2 years experience in parks facilities management or event management or project management; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
Licensing/Certifications:
Depending on assignment, some positions may require:
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record;
• CPR Certification;
• First Aid Certification;
