1,500 Economic Development Agencies and Artists Unite to Encourage Shoppers to Buy Art on Sunday, Nov. 29
Austin TX (Oct. 22, 2020) – Artists Sunday™, the national arts shopping movement, has reached a key milestone, with communities in all 50 U.S. states now participating in the nationwide alliance to create a ‘Black Friday for the Arts.’
To date, arts and economic development organizations in more than 250 communities across the country are taking part, promoting, and championing their local artists. Additionally, over 1,300 individual artists and craftspeople have joined the free program.
Positioned in the year’s busiest holiday shopping weekend, Artists Sunday encourages shoppers to purchase artwork and hand-crafted items from individual artists on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. This year Artists Sunday falls on Sunday, Nov. 29.
The movement unites artists and communities across the country, effectively creating a shared voice of thousands, all promoting the purchase of art as gifts.
“The fact that Artists Sunday now has a presence in every state affirms the commitment of the arts and business communities across the country to help working artists and creators not only make beautiful art, but also make a good living doing it,” said Christopher Sherman, founder of Artists Sunday.

A Full Spectrum of Art, Crafts, Events and Promotions
Artists Sunday artists encompass a full spectrum of the arts from painting, sculpture, and photography to clothing, jewelry, pottery, and a range of handcrafted items that can be both practical and beautiful. Performance art is also included.
In the lead-up to Thanksgiving weekend, consumers across the country can expect a range of promotions designed to raise awareness about Artists Sunday, with individual artists and organizations engaging and inspiring them to add art and hand-crafted items to their holiday shopping lists.
Participation is free to all commercial artists, artisans and craftspeople as well as organizations and agencies that support artists. Participants receive a comprehensive marketing toolkit, enabling them to generate buzz and awareness as the holiday season approaches.
