The Walters Cultural Arts Center (527 E. Main St., Hillsboro) presents a family-friendly matinee performance by award-winning educator and entertainer, Aaron Nigel Smith, on Saturday, January 26 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $5 advance or $8 the day of the performance. Inspiring youth and families around the world through his uplifting reggae rhythms, Smith brings beauty, harmony, and a message of peace to every performance. Get ready for an entertaining and empowering afternoon of joyful music, recommended for ages 2-8.
Smith has performed on the Emmy Award Winning PBS Kids show, “Between the Lions,” and has collaborated with Ziggy Marley. He has received numerous awards, including recognition in People Magazine and USA Today. His 2010 release, “Everyone Loves to Dance,” received a Parents’ Choice Award, and they describe Smith’s sound as having “a joyful beat and multicultural, pop-funk vibe.” Smith has spent over 15 years educating and entertaining youth and families. He teaches chorus and drumming regionally through 1 World Chorus, Young Audiences, and the Right Brain Initiative, and has helped to organize events such as the Rox in Sox Music & Book Festival in Portland, Ore., and the One Love Youth Camp in St. Ann, Jamaica.
