You are invited to help Beaverton High School students create a mural in the heart of Beaverton’s Historic Downtown that shares the stories of their heritage. You will receive up to $6,000 for your work.
What is it?
The Heritage Mural program will create one mural in downtown Beaverton that shares the stories of six Beaverton High School students. Each student will create one square panel, and they will combine to create a comic book-style mural.
The Consulting Muralist will work with these students to teach them how to take their work and create a mural out of it.
The Heritage Mural is intended to focus on sharing the stories of more historically marginalized communities, but all students are welcome to submit designs.
Am I eligible?
If you have experience creating murals, then you are eligible to participate!
How do I participate?
Share what makes you a good fit for this role, and submit examples of your work to the Beaverton Downtown Association at bit.ly/beavertonmuralist.
The Beaverton Downtown Association will cover the cost of supplies. Payment for your involvement will be made in two installments: half in July, and half upon completion of the mural.
Why is this important?
Beaverton is one of the most diverse cities in Oregon, with 100 different languages spoken in homes throughout the school district.
This is a long-lasting visual reminder that Beaverton is a place for all. There are many stories, but there is just one community, and this is our Beaverton. #ourbeaverton
