JANUARY SHOW

Reception: Sunday January 14, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Free Event.

Join us for refreshments and meet our featured artists, Renee Habibi and Shelley Lebel.

 

Renee enjoys the bold vivid color of oil painting, but has also created work in many media including clay and wood sculpture and watercolors. For the past three years, she has been drawing and painting with liquid inks. Her inspiration is nature in its many colors and forms.

 

Shelley is best known for her mixed media whimsical style and sense of humor. She dabbles in many mediums, techniques and substrates but continues to be drawn to bright colors, bold lines and simple designs.

KRISTI ROBERTS – YOUTH CLASSES

 

Mondays: 3:45-4:45 pm for ages 7 – 11

Mondays: 5:00-6:00 pm for ages 11 – 16

Children have an opportunity to try out different mediums including drawing, watercolor, acrylic, pastels, clay and mixed media.  Fine art concepts and techniques are taught with each lesson.  Varied subjects include landscapes, people, faces, animals, cartooning and perspective.

 

 

ADULT CLASSES:

 

MARY BURGESS – PAINT YOUR PET IN WATERCOLOR

Dates: Wednesdays January 10, 17, 24, 31 and February 14, 21

Morning Class 9:30 am to 12:30 pm

or Evening Class 6:00 to 9:00 pm

Learn to paint animal portraits in watercolor using traditional techniques. We will concentrate on photographing animals, painting eyes, fur, feathers and more. The class includes structured lessons and instructor coaching on your paintings.

 

KUMI PICKFORD – INTRODUCTION TO PORTRAIT STUDY IN PASTEL

Dates:  Thursdays February 1, 8, & 15

Times:  10:30am to 12:30pm

The teacher will demonstrate each step for the student to follow. All supplies will be provided. Learn to study the face and apply the appropriate shade of color. Learn how to choose the color for high light and shadow.  Students will complete the child’s face, hair and clothes to the shoulder line, applying the techniques learned.

 

SUSAN PFAHL – UNCIAL CALLIGRAPHY

Dates: Fridays February 2, 9, 16

Times:  1:00pm to 3:00pm

Get ready for St. Patrick’s Day! Uncials were used throughout Europe from 300 to 800AD. In Ireland, they continue to use this script today. This class will cover the uncial letter forms and a variety of Celtic decorations used with this calligraphy including plaitwork and knotwork.

 

GRETHA LINDWOOD – PASTEL FUNDAMENTALS (BEGINNING TO INTERMEDIATE LEVEL)

Dates: Mondays February 5, 12, 19, 26

Times:  9:00am to 12:30pm

Structured lessons focus on choosing pastel papers and textures, underpainting methods, the color wheel, working with warm and cool colors, and using various pastel strokes. The class includes demonstrations and individual instruction.

 

ELIZABETH HIGGINS – GELLI-PLATE PRINTING & COLLAGE

Two-day Workshop: Saturday & Sunday – February 24 & 25

Times:  9:00am to 12:00pm

On the first day, we will make colorful textured papers using a Gel printing plate, texture tools, and acrylic paints.  The second day will be spent composing finished collages with these papers, suitable for greeting cards or framed works of art.
