YOUTH CLASSES
Debbie Teeter ~ Children’s Art Classes
Dates: Thursdays, May 2, 9, 16 & 23 OR May 30, June 6 & 13
Time: 3:45 – 4:45 p.m. – for ages 7-11 yr.
Come join an exciting class, learn a variety of art forms, and find out what you will enjoy. I will develop your child’s art ability and provide them an opportunity to build their skills while exploring different media and approaches.

ADULT CLASSES/WORKSHOPS

Leslie Boyce ~ Watercolor 101

Dates: Tuesdays, May 21, 28, June 4, 11, 18, 25
Time: 12 noon – 3 p.m.
For Beginners and those who want to feed their creative muse! This is the perfect class for you to get started on your watercolor journey or brush up on your skills. Our classes will be structured, fun and easy to follow, focusing on materials, basic technique, value, paint-to-water ratio, color mixing, identifying your, watercolor style, underpainting, glazing and basic composition, building a solid foundation of basic watercolor skills. Students will receive individual instruction and feedback.

Brooke Walker-Knoblich ~ Painting with Brooke

Dates: Thursdays, May 23 & 30
Time: 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
This class will be a general themed oil painting class, so students can bring in any subject matter they choose. Brooke will demonstrate in the first hour, leaving time for students to integrate techniques into their own work. Each class also includes a small group critique at the end. Painters using oils of all skill levels are welcome.

Mary Burgess ~ Watercolor: Painting White and Black Animals using Color

Dates: Wednesdays, May 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 and June 5
Mornings 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
OR Evenings 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
In this six week session, we will explore techniques for painting white and black animals using rich color. Learn pigment combinations to create warm, cool and colorful darks and lights. As we paint dogs, cats, crows, goats or other critters, we will concentrate on achieving vibrant highlights and shadows. Capture a likeness, while keeping your painting fresh and lively. Some watercolor experience helpful.

Jo Reimer ~ Collage Workshop—Playing with Stencils

Dates: Monday, May 20 OR June 17
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Whether a collage novice or more experienced, you’ll find something useful as you play with collage and stencils. Add interest to your watercolor and acrylic paintings, or build a collage using stencils on paper to add layers of pattern to your work. Demos and plenty of time to play will inspire your creativity.

Jo Reimer ~ Collage Workshop—Building a Paper Landscape

Dates: Monday, June 3 OR July 8
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Let’s make a landscape painting using collage. We’ll work on a horizontal format, thinking about the horizon, the sky, and the land, using papers from your collection. I’ll demonstrate the process, giving you a way to start, and then turn you loose to make a painting based on your memory, your imagination, or a favorite photograph.

Annie Salness ~ Farmers Market-Inspired Painting Class in Oil or Acrylic

Dates: Saturday, June 8, OR July 13, OR August 10
Time: 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
We begin at Cedar Mill Farmers Market at 9:30 a.m. You’ll spend an hour taking in the atmosphere, music, smells, scenes and people, and choose a colorful vegetable, fruit, or flower to paint. We then head back to the Gallery where you’ll set up your individual still life with your chosen item, and paint with hands-on personal instruction until 3:30 p.m.

Virginia Sumner ~ Bookbinding Workshops

Date: Saturday, June 15
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
This is a hands-on class culminating in the creation of a sturdy yet delightful journal. We will explore the case binding method. Construction consists of two parts, creating the signature block and case. Along the way we will sew signatures into a block, discuss glue options, add header band and optionally a ribbon page marker, create covers and spine. Finally, we will combine our signature block and case into a finished book.
