The City of Hillsboro Seeks Artists for the 2024 – 2025 Gallery Season

(Hillsboro, Ore.) — Hillsboro Parks & Recreation’s Cultural Arts Division is seeking applications for its 2024 – 2025 Gallery Season. This opportunity is open to artists, artist groups, and exhibiting organizations. Interested applicants will be asked to submit an exhibit description, background information, and images of the proposed artwork or exhibit materials. The deadline to apply is December 22, 2023 at 11 pm PST.

The Walters Cultural Art Center is a multi-functional cultural and community gathering space that hosts exhibitions, classes and workshops, performances, weddings, meetings, and other private and public events. Exhibits at the Walters feature a broad array of works by local and regional artists and offerings from arts, cultural, and educational exhibiting organizations. The Walters is the go-to destination in Hillsboro for connecting with our community through culture.
Exhibits in the Hillsboro Civic Center will relocate for this new gallery season, from the Shirley Huffman Auditorium to the first-floor hallway, between the main atrium and Municipal Court. This new location will allow an expanded gallery footprint and encourage more viewership for the primarily Hillsboro and Washington County-based artists. Exhibits in the Hillsboro Civic Center serve to integrate local artwork into the active business of the city and serves to highlight and celebrate our local creative economy.
The exhibits in both spaces change on a bi-monthly basis and are highlighted in City communications, publications, and during events such as the Hillsboro Art Walk. Cultural Arts staff oversee the season and individual exhibit curation, along with providing full-service support for artists and organizations which includes hanging and installing exhibits, handling sales and relationships with patrons, and connecting artists with additional resources to grow their careers and practices.

The Cultural Arts Division provides multiple opportunities and locations to showcase the arts and is a vibrant representation of the City of Hillsboro’s commitment to arts and culture. As part of the Parks and Recreation department, the Cultural Arts Division shares in the City’s goal of providing diverse, innovative, and exceptional recreational and cultural opportunities that enrich the lives of its citizens.
