Background

A 2018 study revealed that people in Washington County, OR have fewer opportunities to access arts and culture services and experiences than in other urban areas around the state. TVC created the Arts and Culture Leadership Incubator program to challenge, empower and inspire emerging and diverse arts and culture leaders.

Part-leadership development, part-business incubator, the Arts and Culture Leadership Incubator supports local artists and cultural advocates in building a thriving, inclusive cultural and creative environment for our community.

Program Outcomes

A team of Faculty members provides their expertise as creative industry professionals through one-on-one mentorship, guiding participants as both creatives and community activists. Small, intensive skill-building workshops, led by Faculty and guest speakers, cover topics ranging from the business aspects of being an artist to challenging methodologies around what it takes to be a community leader. Participants create lasting connections during the program through peer networking, mentorship, and learning.

The program culminates in a Digital Showcase for the community, highlighting the participant’s projects, collaborations and learnings.

Workshop Details

The Incubator is free to participants, and those who complete the program have an opportunity to earn a $500 stipend to help advance their work.
