The City of Hillsboro Parks & Recreation Department is seeking an innovative, enthusiastic, organized, and qualified community events leader to direct the delivery of citywide special events. This is a rare opportunity for a qualified and passionate leader to work with a team of skilled and committed colleagues to bring year-round, high profile, and large-scale events to the community. Recognized as an expert in the field, the Community Events Program Supervisor will have experience in employee supervision, quality customer service, cultural competence, event design and logistics, and best practices for ensuring event safety. The Community Events Program Supervisor will be able to demonstrate proven organizational methods, excellent time- management and a track record of successfully launching a wide range of community events. Experience in budget development, project management, staff supervision and leadership along with skills in marketing, public outreach and policy development are all central to the work of the Community Events Program Supervisor. Successful candidates must have the ability to work evenings and occasional weekends depending on seasonal event needs.

What You Will Be Doing
The Community Events Program Supervisor designs, manages, and produces community-facing programs and events critical to delivering on the Hillsboro Parks & Recreation mission. The position requires consistent follow-through, initiative, and independent thinking to deliver outstanding celebrations and collective experiences for our diverse community. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, staff supervision, development and assessment of strategic operating plans, budget development, contract management and vendor communications, sponsorship cultivation, oversight of permit approvals for park rental applications, and the development of external and internal partnerships. Collaboration and communication are key components to the success of this role. The Community Events Program Supervisor will prioritize transparency and provide regular program updates ensuring all parties are informed, aligned, and working together toward successful outcomes.

The principal function of an employee in this class is to supervise and oversee community events and activities and design specialized programming in support of an assigned program or area. Responsibilities may include supervising full and part-time, seasonal, and volunteer staff; coordinating program resources and staffing; developing program budgets, including grants and sponsorships; conducting needs analysis to identify programming opportunities; developing program marketing materials; resolving complex customer service issues; preparing reports; and monitoring the utilization of program resources. Incumbents are responsible for hiring, discipline and termination procedures for full, part-time, and seasonal staff.
